Battersea Flooring: A Seamless Staircase Transformation

Battersea Flooring: A Seamless Staircase Transformation

Customer: Mrs. Rezai
Location: Battersea
Area: Staircase
Product:Classic Plus Shadow

There is no better compliment in our industry than a returning customer. We recently headed back to London (SW11) to catch up with Mrs. Rezai regarding the next phase of her home upgrades. Having trusted our Battersea flooring team with the initial installation on her ground and first floors, she invited us back because she felt something was still missing.

“The floors looked incredible,” Mrs. Rezai told us, “but the old staircase felt like a break in the flow. I wanted that same warmth and quality to carry all the way through the house.”

Our mission was clear: turn a functional staircase into a design feature that acted as a bridge between the two levels, maintaining the seamless flow of our previous Battersea flooring project.

Precision Planning for this Battersea Flooring Project

To maintain total consistency with the existing boards we installed during the first stage of this Battersea flooring renovation, we stayed with the Bespoke Classic Plus Shadow (190mm x 18/4mm). It’s a beautiful Rustic Grade wood with a brushed and UV-oiled finish that handles the high traffic of a staircase brilliantly.

However, the “magic” of a great staircase isn’t just the wood—it’s the nosing. We spent extra time in the planning phase mapping out the steps to choose between our 900mm and 2400mm Profile D lengths. By calculating the cuts with surgical precision before even touching a saw, we were able to minimise waste. For Mrs. Rezai, this meant a more cost-effective project without sacrificing the flawless finish expected from a leading Battersea flooring specialist.

Expert Craftsmanship for the Battersea Flooring Installation

A staircase is only as good as the preparation behind it. Our expert fitter, Calvin from H & M Flooring, took the lead on this installation.

  • The “Squared-Off” Prep: Calvin meticulously removed the original bullnose from the stairs. This is a labour-intensive step, but it’s vital for creating the sharp, 90-degree angles needed for a modern, flush finish.
  • Bespoke Colour Matching: We refused to compromise on the finish. By custom-colouring the nosing profiles, we achieved a perfect match with the unique Shadow oiled boards, ensuring a seamless visual flow throughout this Battersea flooring installation.
  • The Bond: Using a high-performance flexible wood flooring adhesive, we bonded the boards directly to the treads. This ensures the stairs aren’t just beautiful—they are silent and secure underfoot.

The Result: The “Final Piece”

The transformation was immediate. What used to be a separate, functional part of the house now feels like an extension of the living space. The rich tones of the Shadow finish draw the eye upward, making the entire home feel more expansive and cohesive—a perfect example of why local homeowners choose us for their Battersea flooring needs.

Mrs. Rezai was thrilled with the outcome:

“It really was the final piece of the puzzle. The craftsmanship on the edges is perfect, and it’s finally the continuous, elegant home I envisioned.”
